Established in 1986 in Fairhope, AL, the Weeks Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve encompasses 6,525 acres of wetlands and waterbottoms in Weeks Bay, Fish River, Magnolia River and a small portion of Mobile Bay. These protected areas provide rich and diverse habitats for a variety of fish, crustaceans and shellfish, as well as many unique and rare plants. Weeks Bay is especially important to the commercial fishing industry in South Alabama.  The shrimp, bay anchovy, blue crab and multitudes of other fish, crustaceans and shellfish found in the area support a robust $450 million a year industry.  Map Us | Visit Our Website
