Established in 1986 near Fairhope, AL, the Weeks Bay National EstuarineResearch Reserve encompasses about 9,500 acres of upland forests, saltmarshes, wetlands and waterbottomsin Weeks Bay, Fish River, Magnolia River and a portion of MobileBay. These protected areas provide rich and diverse habitats for avariety of land animals, birds, fish, crustaceans and shellfish, as well as many unique andrare plants. Weeks Bay is especially important to commercial and recreational fishing industries in coastal Alabama. The shrimp, bay anchovy, blue craband multitudes of other fish, crustaceans and shellfish that spend part of their lifetime in the estuary support a robust and valuable part of the coastal economy.  Map Us | Visit Our Website
